1. The Municipality of Geroskipou is accepting applications for the filling of one (1) post of Waste Collection Worker, on salary scale E6-E7.

2. Interested persons must submit an application by completing the special form, which they can obtain from the official website of the Municipality of Geroskipou https://ierokipia.org.cy/ and from the Municipality’s Registry during working days and hours.

3. The application must be accompanied by the following certificates/documents:

• Copy of School Leaving Certificate
• Copy of Birth Certificate or identity card
• Copy of Clean Criminal Record Certificate
• Copy of Army Discharge Certificate
• Copy of Health Certificate from a Public or Private Hospital.

4. Applications must be submitted, signed, to the Municipality’s Registry, no later than Friday 03/04/2026 at 14:00, in a sealed envelope bearing the indication «Application for the filling of one post of Waste Collection Worker».

The Municipality of Geroskipou announces:

1. All holders of professional premises (natural or legal persons) who conduct a business, industry, trade, profession or occupation within the municipal boundaries of the Municipality of Geroskipou must submit an application to the competent Authority, namely the Municipality of Geroskipou, in order to obtain an operating licence for professional premises (sections 55 & 56 of the Municipalities Law).
2. Applications for the issue of an operating licence for professional premises must be submitted to the Citizen Service Office, duly completed and accompanied by the required supporting documents, by 30/04/2026. The relevant application form is attached; it is also available from the Municipality’s Citizen Service Office and is posted on the Municipality’s website https://ierokipia.org.cy/
3. Applications must be completed properly and must contain, with accuracy, all the requested information, which must be substantiated by the necessary certificates or other documents.
4. The professional premises licence is issued only at the offices of the Municipality’s Financial Department, upon payment of the fees due and provided that the issue of the licence has been approved by the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Geroskipou.
5. It is stressed that payment of the annual fee does not constitute a certificate confirming the issue of a “Professional Premises Licence”.
6. In the event of failure to submit an application, or of rejection of the application, the Municipality of Geroskipou will take all appropriate legal measures, including the issue of an order suspending the operation of unlicensed premises.

On the initiative of the Mayor of Geroskipou, Nikos Palios, a meeting was held today, 5 March, at the Municipal Hall with representatives of Civil Defence.

The meeting addressed civil protection matters at a time of heightened risk to the safety of the population. The involvement of local authorities in crisis management was also discussed.

The Mayor requested and received a briefing on the number of shelters that exist within the boundaries of the Municipality of Geroskipou. Significant unmet needs were identified, as only seven (7) shelters exist within the municipal boundaries, all of which are located in Geroskipou – there are no shelters in the other four municipal districts.

The Mayor proposed that the Christoforos Chatzilambris Health Centre in Koloni and the Geroskipou Multi-purpose Children’s Care Centre be added immediately to the list of shelters. He noted that the number of shelters in Cyprus could be increased through the granting of planning incentives for large developments and newly-constructed buildings.

The Mayor also requested the installation of warning sirens in the municipal districts of Konia, Timi, Agia Marinouda and Acheleia.

It was agreed that, in the coming period, an event would be held to inform the public about the various operational plans of Civil Defence and about taking self-protection measures.

With the aim of improving road safety and addressing traffic problems, the Municipality of Ierokipia has staffed its Traffic Warden Service with three new traffic wardens.

The Municipal Traffic Warden Service will operate in two shifts (morning and afternoon).

For the past month, as part of a public information campaign, the Municipal Traffic Wardens have been issuing warnings, with the aim of tackling illegal parking and clearing the pavements.

Drivers are kindly requested to comply with the provisions of the Highway Code and the instructions of the Municipal Traffic Wardens.

As of today, 3 March 2026, a new telephone number has come into operation for the Citizen Service Department of the Municipality of Ierokipia.

The new telephone number is five digits instead of the eight-digit one (77 77 86 60) that applied until today, with the aim of making it easier for the public to communicate with the Municipality of Ierokipia.

Free of charge, by now calling 17 500, residents can contact the Municipality of Ierokipia and submit their complaints, problems or requests.

For urgent matters outside the Municipality’s normal working hours (daily after 3.00 p.m., public holidays and weekends), citizens can call 99 29 89 00.

Following communication with the Pafos Regional Civil Defence Directorate, we wish to inform, as a precautionary measure and in the context of preparedness, the residents of the Municipal Districts of Timi and Acheleia that, in the event that the sirens sound and the municipal districts need to be evacuated, they should head towards Geroskipou.

The designated shelter locations in Geroskipou are as follows:
• Multipurpose Halls of the A’ & B’ Geroskipou Primary Schools
• Agia Paraskevi Gymnasium
• Giannaki Talioti Lyceum
