Projects worth 28.5 million euros for the Municipality of Geroskipou over the past 8 years
This morning the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiades, inaugurated the connecting road between Geroskipou and the seaside kiosks (Marios Tokas Avenue), in the presence of state officials, local authorities and a large crowd, following a blessing service conducted by the Metropolitan of Paphos, Georgios.
In his address, the President of the Republic referred, among other things, to the municipalities of Paphos, expressing his satisfaction with the organisation they have demonstrated. As he noted, the projects they had proposed to date were mature projects ready for execution, which is why they show the highest absorption rate in relation to their budgets and the projects announced.
With regard to the Municipality of Geroskipou, Mr Anastasiades spoke of projects amounting to 28.5 million euros over the past eight years, which have either been completed, are under way, or have been set in motion.
Among these, as he noted, are:
The construction of the road network linking Paphos Airport with the Municipal Beach,
The expansion of the Kindergarten,
The upgrading and construction of sports facilities,
The Regional Medical Centre “Christoforos Chatzilambris”, currently under construction,
Development projects worth 17.5 million euros concerning the second phase of Archbishop Makarios Avenue, the construction of the junction of Makarios Avenue and Ippokratous Street, the upgrading of the traditional core of the Municipality, and the section of the Geroskipou Northern Bypass currently under construction – up to the boundary of the Paphos municipal limits, which will be completed in early 2022.
The construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Kinyras Street with the second bypass, which is at the stage of tender award and has been assigned to the Municipality, the President of the Republic said, along with the preparation of a study for the upgrading of the remaining section of Makarios Avenue up to the boundary of Kolone.
Finally, he warmly thanked everyone for the close cooperation they enjoy, stressing that the government will always stand by their side.
