Rapid coronavirus testing (rapid test) carried out in Geroskipou

The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the company Mediwell and the Municipality of Geroskipou, will offer completely free rapid coronavirus tests for the residents of Geroskipou.

Tomorrow, Thursday 19/11 and Friday 20/11, a sampling team will be at the Sculpture Park, from 09.00 until 16:00.

Spare five (5) minutes of your time and come to take the test. Together we can and will manage to curb the transmission of the virus.

Completely free, with no terms or conditions. For you, your friends, your family and your colleagues!

 

 

ANNOUNCEMENT OF ANNUAL TENDERS

The Municipality of Geroskipou invites the following tenders for the period up to 31 December 2021.

 

Tenders must be submitted on the special tender forms available on the Municipality’s website, under the “Tenders” category.

Tenders must be submitted no later than 11/12/2020 at 12.00 noon.

The sole criterion on which the Municipality will award the tender is the lowest price.

Announcement – Measures against the spread of the coronavirus

In line with the emergency measures announced on 11/11 by the Government to curb the pandemic, the Municipality of Geroskipou informs the public that:

  • The municipal services will operate with skeleton staff for urgent matters and to serve citizens in emergency situations.Residents are kindly requested to contact the relevant service by telephone or email to arrange an appointment.
  • Visitors, upon entering the Town Hall, must compulsorily wear a protective mask.
  • The Municipal Cash Office will be closed for bill payments from 16/11 until 30/11. During this period, payments can be made online through the Municipality’s website and through the website jccsmart.com. For emergencies, the public may call 26961424, 26961427, 26961516.

In addition, from 12 until 30/11, we inform the public and organised groups that:

  • Gatherings in public spaces (parks, squares, beaches, pedestrian streets, etc.) are prohibited, except for exercise purposes, provided they do not exceed two people, excluding the minor children of parents who are exercising.
  • The operation and use of the Municipality’s organised sports facilities is prohibited.
  • The operation of playgrounds, theme parks and luna parks is suspended.
  • The holding of conferences, exhibitions, assemblies and events is postponed.

The measures may be modified depending on developments and/or the instructions issued by the State.

We urge our fellow residents to show cooperation and to observe all the measures that have been announced.

Environmental activities continue

THE MUNICIPALITY OF GEROSKIPOU and the AKTI CENTRE FOR STUDIES AND RESEARCH (represented by Anna Tselepou), continuing their environmental activities, recently proceeded to empty and record the recyclable materials that had been placed inside the artwork fish located on Geroskipou Public Beach.

The following quantities of materials were recorded in detail and transported to the Koloni Green Point:

50 kilos of plastic

70 kilos of paper and

200 kilos of aluminium

We are continuing our effort to promote recycling as well as to reduce the waste that ends up in our coastal and marine environment.

 

TENDER NOTICE NO. 29/2020 – Procurement of Services of a Specialist – Coordinator for the operation of the “Iris” Family and Child Counselling Centre programme

 

Procurement of Services of a Specialist – Coordinator for the operation of the “Iris” Family and Child Counselling Centre programme (partnership of the Municipality of Geroskipou – SKE Geroskipou)

The partnership of the Municipality of Geroskipou and SKE Geroskipou is accepting expressions of interest for the procurement of services of a specialist-coordinator for the operation of the “Iris” Family and Child Counselling Centre programme in Geroskipou. The Centre Coordinator will work a flexible weekly schedule totalling twenty (20) working hours, depending on the needs that arise.

This programme is funded by the Social Welfare Services of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance.

The required qualifications of the professional for this contract are:

  • Degree in Psychology
  • Registration in the Register of Registered Psychologists of Cyprus
  • Licensed Counselling Psychologist
  • Valid Licence to Practise the Profession
  • Proven experience of two (2) years in matters relating to the provision of counselling support services and the support of vulnerable groups.

Creation of Access Routes to the Cave of the “Five Saints”

In order to facilitate members of the public who wish to visit the cave of the “Five Saints”, located on a rocky terrace of the area of the same name, the Municipality of Geroskipou has proceeded with the creation of two paths leading to the site. The paths are accessible via Naxou Street (a side road off Pafiana Street) and Attikis Street (a side road off Kinyra Street).

 

Announcement – Operation of the Municipality of Geroskipou Cash Offices

 

As part of the effort to address the growing spread of coronavirus and in order to safeguard public health, the Municipality of Geroskipou informs the public that:

The Municipal Cash Office is operating normally, with all coronavirus protection measures in place (use of masks, antiseptic, distancing). However, given the current situation and in application of the relevant protocols of the Ministry of Health, the public is served by a single cash office only, while one person is served in the area at a time.

To avoid inconvenience and crowding, the public is urged to make their payments online through the Municipality’s website www.geroskipou.org.cy and the website www.jccsmart.com.

Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the «Christoforos Neofytou Hadjilambris» Geroskipou Regional Healthcare Centre

The foundation stone laying ceremony of the Geroskipou Regional Healthcare Centre took place on 30 October 2020. The foundation stone was laid by the President of the Republic, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades.

Construction of the project began in January 2020 and is expected to be completed in June 2021. The cost of the project, estimated at €2,100,000 plus VAT, will be borne by the State (4/5) and the Municipality of Geroskipou (1/5).

The Healthcare Centre, with a total area of 1,600 sq.m., will bear the name «Christoforos Neofytou Hadjilambris» in appreciation of the donor of the property.

It is located next to the Koloni roundabout, in a prime location to serve the residents of Geroskipou and the communities of eastern Pafos. Among other facilities, the Healthcare Centre will include three general medicine clinics, a dental clinic, a mental health clinic, a mother and child care area, a wound dressing area, an administrative services office and, in the basement, parking and storage areas. The Healthcare Centre will make a significant contribution to the women of Pafos, as, following a revision of the plans, the creation of a Mammography Centre was included.

Opening Lecture of the 17th Cycle of the “Ierokipeion Open University in Paphos”

The “Ierokipeion Open University in Paphos”, jointly organised by the Municipality of Geroskipou, the University of Cyprus and Radio Pafos, opened its doors for its 17th cycle of lectures on 30 October 2020.

For the 17th consecutive year, the institution continues its effort to keep the Paphos public intellectually engaged through the delivery of accessible lectures by members of the Teaching and Research staff of the University of Cyprus. The lectures are also enriched by the participation of teaching and research staff from other Universities, as well as by specialists from scientific institutes and organisations.

The 17th cycle of lectures of the “Ierokipeion Open University in Paphos” comprises six lectures and will run until 28 May 2021. A dynamic and engaging cycle of lectures invites Paphos residents of all ages to a fruitful dialogue on the pressing issues facing our society today.

The opening lecture was delivered by Ms Maria Iacovou, Professor of Archaeology at the Archaeological Research Unit of the University of Cyprus, who developed the topic “An unknown acropolis and a mysterious tumulus: University of Cyprus excavations at Palaepaphos (2006 – 2020)”.

 

The lecture was dedicated to the memory of our fellow townswoman and University of Cyprus graduate, Konstantina Miltiadous, who passed away unjustly some two years ago after a hard-fought battle with a serious illness.

 

The lectures of the “Ierokipeion Open University” are open to the public and are broadcast live across Cyprus by Radio Pafos and recorded by the University of Cyprus radio station UCYvoice 95.2. At the end of each presentation, the public may take an active part in the discussion that follows.

EXTENSION OF THE PAYMENT DEADLINE FOR TAXES AND FEES – USEFUL INFORMATION

 

  • The Municipality of Geroskipou informs the public that the invoices have been sent for the Refuse Collection Fee, the Professional Premises Licence, the Professional Tax, the Immovable Property Fee, as well as the Cemetery Tax (final (4th) annual instalment) for the year 2020.
  • Invoices relating to the charge for the PROFESSIONAL PREMISES LICENCE do not constitute a certificate for the issuance of the “Professional Premises Licence”, and the managers of the premises are required to take all necessary steps to secure it.
  • The Professional Premises Licence is issued only at the Municipality’s offices upon submission of all the necessary certificates and payment of the imposed fee.
  • Failure to obtain the Professional Premises Licence constitutes a criminal offence, and the owner – manager of the professional premises will be prosecuted.

 

  • Those who did not receive invoices for the above taxes and fees are urged to contact the Municipality’s offices to settle their obligations.

 

  • Collection of the above taxes will be carried out until Monday 30/11/2020 at the Municipality’s cash desks and at the banks, into the accounts listed on the back of the invoices, or through the website of the Municipality of Geroskipou and JCC Smart Payments (jccsmart.com). For invoices with a final payment date before 30 November 2020, an extension of the payment date is granted until 30/11/2020.

 

  • There is also the option to pay the invoices in instalments, with a minimum payment of €50 each time and a final settlement date of 30/12/2020. Instalment payments are made only at the Municipality’s cash desks.

 

  • Objections to the imposed taxes and fees must be submitted in writing to the Municipality’s Financial Department and must be accompanied by the necessary supporting documents. Objections that are not fully substantiated will not be accepted. The final date for submitting objections is Friday 20 November 2020.

 

  • During December 2020, collection of the above taxes will be carried out at the Municipality’s cash desks or through the website of the Municipality of Geroskipou and JCC Smart Payments (jccsmart.com) without any surcharge:

Cash desk hours: Monday to Friday : 8.00 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.

 

  • The Municipality’s cash desk will remain closed on Thursday 31 December 2020 for the purposes of auditing and imposing surcharges. Outstanding amounts will be settled with a surcharge of 10% as of Monday 04/01/2021.
