Filling of a Vacant Position of General Duties Worker (Scale E5)

The Municipality of Geroskipou is accepting applications to fill one (1) position of General Duties Worker.

The salary scale for the position is E5.

The duties of the position are those of a General Duties Worker across all departments of the Municipality.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

Interested candidates may obtain the application form from the Records Office of the Municipality of Geroskipou during working days and hours, or from the Municipality’s website www.geroskipou.org.cy.

Applications must be submitted fully completed and signed to the Records Office of the Municipality of Geroskipou by Thursday 4 January at 2:00 p.m., in a sealed envelope marked with the phrase “Application for the recruitment of a general duties worker”.

The following supporting documents must be attached to the application:

  1. A copy of a “Clean Criminal Record” certificate from the Police.
  2. A copy of a Birth Certificate or Identity Card.
  3. A copy of a Primary/Secondary Education Leaving Certificate.
  4. A copy of a Military Discharge Certificate.
  5. A Health Certificate from a Medical Officer certifying that the candidate is able to carry out manual work and work involving the use of machinery without any problem.

REQUIREMENTS/CRITERIA FOR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION:

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus or of another Member State of the European Union.
  • Have fulfilled their military obligations or have been lawfully exempted from them. In the case of lawful exemption from military obligations, they must present the necessary supporting documents indicating that the grounds for the lawful exemption do not render them incapable of performing the duties of the position.
  • Not have been convicted by a Criminal Court of an offence involving dishonesty or moral turpitude, and not have been dismissed or had their services terminated from the Public Service or from any organisation of the broader Public Sector.
  • Provide a work certificate from previous employers if they have been employed in the past.

Results of the written examination for filling the vacant permanent position of Assistant Secretarial Officer

Results of the written examination for filling the vacant permanent position of Assistant Secretarial Officer. The Municipality of Geroskipou announces the results of the said written examination held on 04.11.2023, in order of the candidates’ success who sat it:
“Successful candidate” means a person who takes part in the written examination and achieves an overall general average score of at least 50% and at least 40% in each of the subjects included in the examination.
It is noted that, under the framework for filling the position, the candidates who have passed the written examination will be called to the oral examination, provided and once it is confirmed that they meet the required qualifications and conditions for appointment, in a number three times the number of the vacant position to be filled.

Christmas Lighting Ceremony Cancelled

 

Geroskipou Municipality informs that today’s Christmas tree Lighting Ceremony is cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

Major Distinction for the Municipality of Geroskipou at the Working Meeting of the World Health Organization European Healthy Cities Network

The Municipality of Geroskipou, as a full member of the European “Healthy Cities” Network, took part from 21/11/2023 to 23/11/2023 in Utrecht in the Annual Working Conference of the European Healthy Cities Network.
The delegation that travelled to Utrecht comprised Municipal Councillor Mr Andreas Christofides, coordinator Mr Panikos Trakkidis, Municipal Secretary Mr Kostas Anastasiades and Health Officer Mr Marios Nikitas.
The main theme of the meeting was Health and Well-being for All, celebrating 35 years of the Healthy Cities movement.
More than 400 representatives of the cities and National Networks that make up the European Healthy Cities Network took part in Utrecht.
The topics discussed included:
– One Health, one future, advancing towards Planetary Well-being.
– Leaving no one behind: Promoting health in a digital age.
– The power of cities: Delivering an inclusive agenda for mental health.
– Creating sustainable places for all generations.
– Learning from experience: Promoting resilient cities in the face of emergencies.
As part of the meeting, and following a vote, the coordinator of the Municipality of Geroskipou, Mr Panikos Trakkidis, was elected to the five-member “Advisory Committee” of the European Network. The election of Mr Trakkidis is a tremendous achievement both for the Municipality of Geroskipou and for Cyprus, as it is the first time that our small country has been represented on this committee.
Finally, the Municipality of Geroskipou took part in the discussion on defining the Political Declaration of the Healthy Cities Network for 2023.

Open Call for Expressions of Interest for the Allocation of a Christmas Kiosk:

A) General Information:

The Municipality of Geroskipou issues an open call for expressions of interest for the allocation of eight (8) kiosks measuring 3 x 2 for the offering/sale of food, sweets, drinks, crafts, local products or other related products, whether Christmas-themed or not. The Christmas Village will operate in the central square of the Municipality of Geroskipou (in front of the Municipal Hall), and the venue will feature artistic and other activities, as well as games for young and old alike.

Operating period of the Christmas Village:

Start: Friday 22.12.23

End: Friday 29.12.23

The price for renting/using the kiosks amounts to 300 euros plus VAT for the entire duration of the event.

Interested parties must submit their applications in writing by email to: info@vasiamezou.com by Wednesday 6.12.23 and no later than 12:00.

The email should bear the subject line “Kiosks – Municipality of Geroskipou” and include the bidder’s details, the item or items they wish to offer, and any indicative photographs of their products.

A strict order of priority will be observed, along with checks to ensure compliance with all health and other requirements. The use of the kiosks will not be granted to companies/individuals offering food that requires professional equipment, deep-frying, etc. Those interested in offering such products may submit a proposal for mobile canteens.

B) Terms of Use for the Kiosks:

Those granted the right to use a kiosk are required to meet the following:

  1. Employers must comply with the Safety and Health at Work Laws of 1996 to 2020.
  2. They must keep the kiosk open for all days and hours of operation of the Christmas Village. Otherwise, the Municipality and the organisers reserve the right to withdraw the right of use following a warning and to grant it to another interested party.
  3. They must have a sufficient number of staff to serve the public.
  4. They must display in the kiosk a list of their products, together with prices, which will be subject to approval.
  5. They must keep the kiosk and its surrounding area clean.
  6. No installation of any kind, whether inside or outside the kiosk, is permitted without the organisers’ approval.
  7. They must return the kiosk in the condition in which they received it, without any damage or deterioration.
  8. They must cooperate with the Officer responsible for the safety and health of the event whenever required.
  9. They must have at least one fire blanket and one 6kg ABC Dry Powder fire extinguisher (premises where frying oil is used must have WET CHEMICAL type fire extinguishers).
  10. Every employer or self-employed person must hold valid employer’s liability insurance covering the actual number of their employees.
  11. Each power strip must have only one heat-producing appliance connected to it.
  12. If LPG is required, only domestic LPG is acceptable, and each premises may have a maximum of two (2) domestic LPG cylinders.
  13. LPG cylinders must be kept ONLY outdoors and stored away when not in use.
  14. The supply line, regulator and hose of the LPG installation must be new or in good condition.
  15. Damaged cables and broken sockets must be replaced immediately.
  16. They must use special gloves when carrying out work that produces heat.
  17. They must hold all the necessary health certificates and apply them in accordance with the food hygiene requirements set out in Chapters III, IV and VIII of Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 (Health Authority licence for the handling/preparation/sale of food).
  18. They must ensure that every person handling open food holds a valid Health Certificate for food handlers (Food Handler Health Certificate), issued every twelve months by a Chief Medical Officer, as required by the Food Hygiene and Official Food Control Regulations of 2006.
  19. They must ensure that they hold a licence to sell alcoholic beverages.

 

 

C) Application Contents:

  • Duly completed and signed FORM 1.
  • A copy of the above-mentioned certificates (Food Handler Health Certificate – Health Authority licence for the handling/preparation/sale of food).
  • A list/price list of the products, with descriptions and photographs.

Within the framework of the public lecture programme “Ierokipeion Open University in Paphos”, jointly organised by the Municipality of Geroskipou, the University of Cyprus and Radio Pafos, the second lecture of the 20th cycle will take place on Friday, 24 November 2023 at 7:00 p.m., in the Events Hall of the Geroskipou Multipurpose Centre.

 

The speaker of the lecture, titled “The New Era of Artificial Intelligence”, will be Antonis Kakas, Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus. The lecture will be moderated by Savvas Chatzichristofis, Professor of Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science at Neapolis University Pafos.

 

The lectures of the “Ierokipeion Open University” are open to the public and are broadcast live by Radio Pafos Pancyprian 93.7, online via the website www.radiopafos.com, and recorded by the University of Cyprus radio station UCYvoice 95.2. At the end of the presentations, the public, as well as the listeners of Radio Pafos Pancyprian, can actively participate in the discussion that follows.
