East Paphos Municipality Summer Camp 2024



The twenty-four-year-old institution of Geroskipou’s summer camps for children of the 6th grade continues for the Municipality of East Paphos.
The 39 campers and their 6 escorts departed today, 09 July, for Pelendri, where they will remain until the 13th of the month.
The camps include a rich programme of educational and recreational activities with full board.
The greater part of the costs for the implementation of the programme was borne by the Municipality within the framework of its social contribution.

CLEAR YOUR PLOTS OF LAND

The Municipality of Eastern Paphos calls on all owners of plots or other parcels of land located within the municipal area, and specifically in the districts of Geroskipou, Agia Marinouda, Acheleia, Timi and Konia, to clear them and remove any weeds and/or waste materials by 14 July 2024.

Responsibility for clearing the parcels of land rests solely with the owners, even where the waste materials found on them have been placed or dumped by third parties.

After the above date, the Municipality of Eastern Paphos will clear all plots, fields or other parcels of land that have not been cleared and will charge their owners.

The charge will be based on the weight and category of the materials removed, but in no case will it be less than eighty euros (€80) per plot. This notice is also considered a personal notice to all owners of parcels of land.

PRESS RELEASE – OFFICIAL SWEARING-IN CEREMONY OF THE NEW MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF EASTERN PAPHOS

The official swearing-in ceremony of the first Mayor of the newly established Municipality of Eastern Paphos, Mr Nikos Palios, together with the Deputy Mayors of Geroskipou, Konia, Timi, Acheleia and Agia Marinouda, as well as the Municipal Councillors, for the term 01/07/2024 – 30/06/2029, was held on 02/07/2024 at 19:30 in the Pantheon Hall of the Aliathon Hotel.
The ceremony began with the presentation of the members of the Municipal Council: for the Geroskipou district, Kyriakos Andreou, Giorgos Leonida, Anastasis Tsappis, Paraskevas (Skevos) Savvidis, Evangelos Athanasiou, Marios Hadjimitsis, Georgoula Christofi and Thanasis Zervas were elected. For the Municipal District of Konia, Fani Anastasiou and Michalis Kountouresis were elected, and for the Municipal District of Timi, Sotiris Pallari.
A blessing service followed, conducted by the Metropolitan of Paphos, Mr Tychikos, while on behalf of the Municipal Service a welcome address was given by the Municipal Secretary, Kostas Anastasiadis. An address was also delivered by the former acting Mayor of Geroskipou, Kyriakos Hadjivasilis, who gave a brief account of the work carried out in previous years.
The floor was then taken by Mayor Nikos Palios, who welcomed the members of the Municipal Council, the Deputy Mayors of the Municipal Districts and the Municipal Councillors, congratulated them on their election and wished them a successful term of office. He expressed his gratitude to all those who honoured him with their vote, giving him the opportunity to serve the community as Mayor, and pledged that he would give his very best to honour this mandate.
Mr Palios stressed: “During my mayoralty, party affiliations will be left outside the Town Hall, and together we will decide on the common good and the interest of our place. Everyone has a role in this journey.” He added that residents will be able to take an active part in improving daily life by expressing their ideas and views. The first period of the new Local Authority will be difficult, Mr Palios said, but even though the wider area has many shortcomings and lacks basic infrastructure, all of this must be overcome. Bringing together the five constituent parts and treating them equally, according to their particular characteristics and needs, is a key priority for the Mayor, he said, noting that each Municipal District will acquire its own role, will have its own share in development, and its own plan for the future.
The Deputy Mayors of the Municipal Districts also delivered addresses.
The ceremony was attended by political and institutional figures of the Paphos district and a large crowd from the Municipality of Eastern Paphos.

• Licensing
From 1/7/2024 planning and building applications are submitted exclusively online through the «Ippodamos» System, around the clock.
The Management of the Paphos District Self-Government Organisation (Paphos DSGO) informs the public that, in order to serve it better, from 1 July 2024 it will be able to be contacted on the following matters:
– Planning Permission on telephone 26 443100, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, and
– Building Permission on telephone 26 949100, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30.
A meeting with the staff of the Licensing Directorate can be arranged if deemed absolutely necessary and provided that it concerns a matter related to the responsibilities of the Licensing Directorate.
We ask the public to arrange their meetings in accordance with the above instructions to ensure timely and effective service.

We ask for the public’s understanding regarding problems that may arise in the initial stages of the operation of Paphos DSGO. Our goal is the prompt and quality service of the public throughout our entire District.

ANNOUNCEMENT – Local Government Reform

Operation of the Finance Departments of the Municipality of Geroskipou and the Communities of Konia, Timi, Agia Marinouda and Acheleia.

 

Under the new operating framework for Local Government, which takes effect on 1 July 2024 and in accordance with the provisions of the Municipalities Law, the Municipality of Eastern Paphos has been established, with Geroskipou as its seat. The Municipality of Eastern Paphos comprises the Municipality of Geroskipou and the Communities of Konia, Timi, Agia Marinouda and Acheleia, which will hereafter be referred to as the Districts of the new Municipality.

To this end, and in order to ensure a smooth transition to the Municipality of Eastern Paphos, the public is informed that the last day of operation of the Finance Departments for public service (collections, payments to third parties, objections, and the issuing of alcohol, tobacco, dog and commercial-premises licences), as well as of electronic payments through the JCC service, has been set for 27 June 2024.

Public service, as well as payments at the cash desks, will resume normal operation from Thursday 04/07/2024. The Municipality of Eastern Paphos will serve the public at the cash desks of the Geroskipou, Konia, Timi and Agia Marinouda districts, at their existing offices. For the Acheleia district, the public will be served at the offices of the Geroskipou District.

All taxes and fees already invoiced by the Municipality and the Communities will be payable as normal from Thursday 04/07/2024 at the respective offices of the Districts of the Municipality of Eastern Paphos.For invoices with a due date up to 30/06/2024, an extension of the final payment date to 31/07/2024 is granted.

The Municipality of Eastern Paphos will continue to keep the public informed on all matters relating to the reform, with the aim of facilitating and providing prompt service.

Advertising Space Available

The Municipality of Geroskipou informs residents and businesses that advertising space is available for weekly rent, for banners or advertising posters, on Arch. Makariou Avenue. Please note that any banner or advertising poster placed at any other location will be removed immediately. Invitation to Express Interest No. 34/2024 for the disposal of a BMW-type vehicle


1. The Municipality of Geroskipou invites tenders for the disposal of the vehicle with registration number KRZ 739, make BMW 316i, with a minimum acceptable tender price of €2,800.00.
2. Tenders must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked “Tender for the disposal of the vehicle with registration number KRZ 739” and placed in the Tender Box of the Municipality of Geroskipou (entrance of the Municipal Hall, Geroskipou Square, 8210, Paphos), no later than Friday 5 July 2024 at 13:00.
3. The successful tenderer will be the one offering the highest price compared with the other tenderers.
4. The successful tenderer is required to collect the vehicle within 10 days of the award of the tender and after paying the required tender amount to the Municipality’s treasury.
5. Please note that any customs duty on the vehicle will be paid by the successful tenderer.
