Announcement from the Paphos Sewerage Board

ANNOUNCEMENT
The Paphos Sewerage Board informs the owners and/or occupiers of all premises within its area of responsibility that, for the period 19/06/2024 to 30/07/2024, it has scheduled spraying operations to control cockroaches and rodents in the public sewerage system.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
• The spraying works will be carried out by an appointed private subcontractor and supervised by a competent officer of the Paphos Sewerage Board.
• The spraying works will cover only the public sewage manholes.
• During the same period, owners and/or occupiers of connected premises are advised to clean and spray the manholes of their private sewer and their connection manhole.

“IEROKIPIA 2024” CULTURAL EVENTS


The Municipality of Geroskipou announces that it is accepting proposals from registered companies, cultural bodies, event organisers, artistic ensembles, artists and non-profit organisations for the drawing up of the programme of the “Ierokipia” cultural events, which will take place this coming September.
Specifically, the events will begin on 13/9, with further events taking place on 18/9 and 20/9. The “Ierokipia” will conclude on 27/9 with the established event for World Tourism Day.
Interested parties may submit their proposals,
• either electronically, to the address info@geroskipou.org.cy
• or by post, to the address Municipality of Geroskipou, P.O. Box 63015, 8210 Geroskipou
• or by fax to 26 961 247
no later than Friday 5 July 2024.
It is recommended that proposals be accompanied by a detailed description and curricula vitae and/or audiovisual material, online references, publications, etc.
Each proposal should include a detailed statement of its cost, and the VAT should be specified.

Transfer of the Development Licensing Responsibility to the Paphos District Self-Government Organisation (SGO).

The Municipality of Geroskipou informs its residents that, in accordance with the new operating framework for Local Government, which comes into effect on 1 July 2024, and pursuant to the provisions of the District Self-Government Organisations Law, the Paphos District Self-Government Organisation (SGO) is to assume, among other things, the responsibility for the town-planning and building licensing of development at district level.
For this purpose, and to ensure the smooth transfer of the above development licensing responsibilities from the Municipality of Geroskipou to the Paphos SGO, please be informed that, in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior circular dated 13/06/2024, the last day for the receipt of all types of applications – both physical paper forms and electronic submissions (via the IPPODAMOS service) – is set as 14 June 2024.
• On 1 July 2024, the receipt of new applications for the granting of Town-Planning and Building permits begins at the Paphos SGO.

Ierokipeion Open University – Closing Ceremony of the 20th Lecture Cycle.

The lectures of the 20th cycle of the Ierokipeion Open University lecture programme have been completed for this academic year.

At the 6th and final lecture, held on 31 May 2024, the speaker was Dr Artemis Georgiou, Assistant Research Professor, Archaeological Research Unit, University of Cyprus, who presented the topic “Geroskipou before Ierokipia: examining the archaeology of the area in the 2nd millennium BC”, generating particular interest among those present, who, under the moderation of Dr Anna Satraki, Archaeological Officer at the Department of Antiquities, asked questions relating to the lecture.

The event was addressed by the Acting Mayor of Geroskipou, Kyriakos Hadjivasilis, who, together with Mrs Dora Nikolaidou, a founding member of the Radio Paphos Pancyprian radio station, presented the certificates of participation.

Easter Opening Hours of the Municipality of Geroskipou

The Municipality of Geroskipou announces:
On Holy Thursday, 02/05/2024, the Municipal services will operate until 12:30.
The Services will remain closed for the Easter holidays from Good Friday (03/05/2024) up to and including Easter Monday (06/05/2024).
On Easter Tuesday (07/05/2024) the Municipality’s services will operate with skeleton staff, while the Cash Office will be closed.

The refuse collection service will operate as normal.
The Acting Mayor, the Municipal Council and the staff of the Municipality of Geroskipou wish everyone a Happy Easter, in good health!

The purpose of the 1st Dialogue Forum is:

  • To foster acquaintance and strengthen interaction between the stakeholders and the Project Partners,
  • To help stakeholders understand their role in implementing the Project’s actions and to appreciate the impact that the LIFE IP CYzero WASTE Project will have on their own activities,
  • To inform the LIFE IP CYzero WASTE Project team about the actions being carried out by the parties involved, with the aim of identifying potential synergies between the Project and those parties.

By taking part in the 1st Dialogue Forum, you will have the opportunity to learn about the Project’s progress and to raise your questions and concerns with the LIFE IP CYzero WASTE Project team.

1st Forum Titled “Building New Synergies For Integrated Municipal Waste Management”

Within the framework of the LIFE IP CYzero WASTE Project, 6 Forums in total will be organized with the aim of analyzing and promoting issues related to all Project actions, while disseminating good practices. They will promote the capacity building activities towards the desired direction and will constitute a significant initiative that will ensure the acquiring knowledge, networking, interaction, and engagement of all stakeholders.

The goal of the 1st forum is to facilitate acquaintance and enhance interaction among stakeholders and Project Partners, providing an environment for participatory discussion where participants will have the opportunity not only to better understand the Project but also to express their opinions and suggestions, concurrently mentioning the actions they undertake regarding Circular Economy.

During the discussion, stakeholders will be asked to:

Present the actions they undertake as stakeholders,
Describe the ways in which their organization intends to contribute to the Project,
Propose potential collaboration opportunities,
Share opinions regarding the overall impact of the Project or potential collaboration in their own activities.
The 1st Forum is addressed to all interested parties called upon to design and implement waste management solutions, such as Local Government Authorities, industries, Development Agencies, Waste Disposal or Household Waste Utilization Boards, farmers’ associations, Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation, hospitality and catering sector entities, local businesses, the scientific community and research institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), etc.
