Information on the collection of waste and recyclable materials during the holidays


Announcement by the Municipality of Geroskipou

The Municipality of Geroskipou informs its residents that the waste collection crews will work as normal on the public holidays of Christmas and on Epiphany Day, but will not work on Wednesday 1 January 2025.
The collection of recyclable materials by the Green Dot (Cyprus) crew will take place as normal.

RECRUITMENT OF ONE (1) REFUSE COLLECTION WORKER
The Municipality of Geroskipou is accepting applications for the recruitment of one (1) Refuse Collection Worker on scale E6-E7.
Applications must be submitted on a special form, which interested parties may obtain from the Municipality’s Registry during working days and hours, or from the Municipality’s official website https://ierokipia.org.cy/


The following documents must be submitted together with the application:
1. A copy of the school leaving certificate.
2. A copy of the birth certificate or identity card.
3. A copy of a clean criminal record certificate.
4. A copy of the military discharge certificate.
5. A copy of a health certificate from a public or private hospital.


Applications must be submitted to the Municipality’s Registry, signed by the applicants, by Friday 24/01/2025 at 14:00, in sealed envelopes bearing the phrase “Application for the recruitment of a refuse collection worker”.

Visit by the Mayor of Geroskipou to the Christoforos Chatzilambris Medical Centre



The Mayor of Geroskipou, Nikos Palios, visited the Christoforos Chatzilambris Medical Centre in Koloni today (11/12).
He met with the medical and paramedical staff of the Medical Centre and was briefed on the services it provides. Possible ways in which the municipal authority could support the Centre were also discussed.
The Municipality of Geroskipou aims to make full use of the Medical Centre, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the SHSO. To this end, a delegation from the Municipality will hold a meeting in Nicosia next week with the Minister of Health, Mr Michalis Damianos.

Meeting Between the Municipality of Geroskipou and the Paphos Fire Service

A meeting between the Municipality of Geroskipou and the Paphos Fire Service took place today (10/12).
The discussion addressed cooperation between the Municipality and the Fire Service in cases of fires and floods, the possibility of setting up a Volunteer Firefighting Team in the Municipality of Geroskipou, and the permits granted by the municipal authority to citizens for the burning of prunings.
The Mayor of Geroskipou, Nikos Palios, thanked the District Officer of the Paphos Fire Stations, Stelios Nestoros, and the Assistant District Officer, Sokratis Kyriakidis, for holding the meeting and expressed the Municipality’s readiness to deepen the cooperation between the two sides.

Visit by the President of DISY to the Municipality of Geroskipou.



On Wednesday 4/12, the President of the Democratic Rally, Mrs Annita Demetriou, accompanied by party officials, held a meeting with the Mayor and the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Geroskipou.
During the meeting, broader issues relating to the reform of local government were discussed, as well as other more specific matters concerning the Municipality of Geroskipou.
The Mayor of Geroskipou, Nikos Palios, thanked the President of DISY for the party’s tangible interest in addressing the problems of local government.

 

Land Plot Purchase Agreement by the Municipality of Ierokipia



The Municipality of Ierokipia announces that it has reached an agreement with the owner of plot no. 300 in Geroskipou for the purchase of this property.
The plot, with an area of 261 sq.m., is located at the junction of Thermopylon and Arch. Kyprianou streets, and its acquisition aims to complete the regeneration project of the traditional core of Geroskipou and, specifically, to widen the road and create an organised parking area, in conjunction with the neighbouring Turkish Cypriot plot.

ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF IEROKIPIA

The Municipality of Ierokipia wishes to inform the residents of the Koloni area that the Housing Scheme for the Revitalisation of Specific Rural Areas has been re-launched with revised incentives and adjustments that address the needs and suggestions of all the stakeholders involved.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide financial support towards acquiring a home for owner-occupation in the geographical areas of rural communities, with the aim of broadening its scope so that more beneficiaries can benefit.

Although the Koloni area does not fall under a community council, it borders the Municipal District of Geroskipou and is included in this scheme.

Information about the scheme:
Maximum financial support:
From €15,000 to €20,000, depending on the composition of the family.
Income criteria:
From €25,000 to €65,000, depending on the composition of the applicant’s family.
Application submission deadline:
31 December 2025.

Municipal Assemblies | Municipal Assembly in Agia Marinouda.

The Municipal Assembly of the Agia Marinouda District was held on Wednesday 27/11.

The residents who attended were briefed on the first months of the new Municipality’s operation, as well as on its development initiatives in the Agia Marinouda district. They also had the opportunity to raise the problems they face and to put forward suggestions.

This was the 5th and final municipal assembly, an institution successfully inaugurated by the Municipality of Ierokipia to give the residents of its municipal districts a platform to express themselves.

Signing of an Agreement for Supplementary Infrastructure at Geroskipou Municipal Beach

An agreement was signed today (26/11) between the Municipality of Ierokipia and the company Panath Construction Ltd for supplementary infrastructure at Geroskipou Municipal Beach, for the sum of €907,947.00 plus VAT.
The project includes the creation of a car park with 227 spaces, a children’s playground and green areas, covering a total area of 240m x 40m.
The project, which is financed by the “Thalia 2021 – 2027” Cohesion Policy Programme, will begin within December and will be completed in six months.

The residents who attended were briefed on the first months of operation of the new Municipality, as well as on its development initiatives in the Timi district. They also had the opportunity to raise the problems they face and to submit proposals.
