New land purchase agreement by the Municipality of Geroskipou for the creation of parking spaces

The Municipality of Geroskipou announces that it has reached an agreement with the owner of plots No. 764 and 246 in Geroskipou for the purchase of this real estate.
The plots, with a total area of 360 sq.m., are located on Michali Karaoli Street, and their acquisition aims at the completion of the project to regenerate the traditional core of Geroskipou and, specifically, at extending the parking area on Giannaki Talioti Street (opposite the Municipal Art Gallery).

Festal Doxology for the 25th of March 1821 in Geroskipou.

On the occasion of the national anniversary of the 25th of March 1821, a doxology will be held on 25 March at 9.00 a.m. at the Holy Church of Agia Paraskevi in Geroskipou, presided over by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Odysseas Aspromallis.
The commemorative address of the day will be delivered by the Assistant Head Teacher at the Giannakis Taliotis Lyceum, philologist Giorgos Giallouris.
The doxology will be attended by the Mayor of Geroskipou Nikos Palios, the Municipal Council, representatives of the School Board, teachers and delegations of pupils from the secondary and primary schools of the Municipality.

Recruitment of Hourly-Paid Manual Staff at the PDLGO

The Paphos District Local Government Organisation is accepting applications for the Recruitment of Hourly-Paid Manual Staff as follows:

I. 15 Labourer Positions (Scales E4, E6 and E7)
II. 20 Technical Labourer Positions (Scales E7 and E8)

Applications must be submitted to the offices of the Paphos District Local Government Organisation, 11 Charalambou Mouskou, 8010 Paphos, or sent by post by registered letter or by fax to number 26939294 no later than 31 March 2025 at 12:00 noon. Applications submitted after the specified deadline will not be considered.

Update on the 3rd Section of the Redevelopment of the Traditional Core of Geroskipou.



Based on the update provided by the contractor of the project to redevelop the traditional core of Geroskipou (MILTIADES NEOPHYTOU C.E.C. & D.), the Municipality of Geroskipou informs the public that construction works have begun on the 3rd section of the project, which covers Thermopylon, Marathonos, Kouriou, Spartis and Michalaki Karaoli streets.

The project involves the demolition of existing roads and pavements, earthworks, the installation of new public utility networks (EAC and CYTA), street lighting and the paving of roads.

Thermopylon, Marathonos, Kouriou, Spartis and Michalaki Karaoli streets will remain closed to traffic for the next three (3) months, until 15 June 2025. In addition, traffic on Arsinois, Dionysou, Athinon, Kerkyras and Leontiou streets, and to the west of Giannaki Talioti street, will be closed on a rotating and partial basis in order to complete the paving works.

The above phase of works also includes the redevelopment of the car park on Archiepiskopou Kyprianou street, to the south of the Geroskipou Adult Education Centre, which will remain closed to the public.

Throughout the duration of the works, safe access will be ensured for pedestrians, affected residents and visitors to their homes and other businesses.
Depending on the progress of the works, and always in good time, a further detailed update will be provided with all the necessary information for the remaining phases of the project.

The Municipality of Geroskipou named a “Green City of Cyprus” with two Cyprus-wide environmental awards

The Municipality of Geroskipou is pleased to announce that it has been recognised by the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CYCERE).

Specifically, it will be awarded two prizes: the “Green City of Cyprus” award for the project “Creation and upgrading of green spaces” in the category “Green Areas – Urban Biodiversity”, and the “Green City of Cyprus” award for the project “Actions to reduce plastic and strengthen recycling” in the category “Waste Management”.

With this recognition, our Municipality is automatically included in the Network of Green Cities & Communities created by CYCERE.

The Municipality of Geroskipou is a local authority that is particularly conscious of environmental matters, and for this reason it will continue even more dynamically to undertake initiatives for the further greening of its area. It will also intensify its efforts to make recycling an integral part of the daily life of its residents.

The Venus Rally (15-16/03) is coming to Geroskipou Square!

The first race of the 2025 Cyprus Rally Championship, the Venus Rally, run by the Cyprus Automobile Association (CAA) and organized by the Pafos Motorsport Association, will take place over the weekend of 15-16 March.

The race will start at 10:30 in the morning on Saturday in Geroskipou Square, followed by stages throughout the district. The finish is expected around 15:30 on Sunday, 16/03, in Geroskipou Square.

Super Special Stage in the Industrial Area of Konia – Paphos: [15/03/2025]
The Municipality of Geroskipou wishes to inform the public that Rigainis Street, heading towards the Konia Industrial Area up to the KEO roundabout, will remain closed on 15/3/2025 from 15:00 until 19:00.

Members of the public who wish to watch the Super Special Stage (SSS) are urged to arrive at the venue in good time and to follow the instructions of the Traffic Police. (The image shows the Super Special Stage route.)

The municipality of Hierocepia informs the public that Rigainis Street, heading towards the Industrial Area of Konia, up to the KEO roundabout, will remain closed on March 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Vasili Michaelidi Street in Geroskipou closed due to PDLGO works

The Municipality of Geroskipou notifies the public that Vasili Michaelidi Street in Geroskipou will be closed today, due to works being carried out to repair a fault in the Water Supply Network of the Paphos District Local Government Organisation.

Traffic will return to normal once the fault has been fully repaired.

For further information, the public may contact the relevant service of the Paphos PDLGO (26 818202).

Maintenance and renovation of the Agia Marinouda Handball Court facilities

Following maintenance of its facilities and the replacement of the conventional floodlights with LED technology lighting, the Municipality of Geroskipou informs the residents of the Municipal District of Agia Marinouda that the Handball Court is available for their use, entirely free of charge, provided that they first arrange to obtain permission and the keys to the court from the Offices of the Municipal District, daily, between 7.30 a.m. – 11.00 a.m. (tel. 26 964 900).

The Municipality of Geroskipou is accepting expressions of interest for the purchase of cashier – cleaner services at the Municipal Beach.

Interested parties may obtain the terms of the tender from the Municipality’s Registry during working hours or from the Municipality’s website www.hierocepia.org.cy

Tenders must comply fully with the terms set out in the tender documents.

Tenders must be sealed and deposited in the Municipality’s tender box no later than Friday 28 March 2025 at 12:00 noon.

62 Residents Join Advisory Committees of the Municipality of Ierokipia

Following a public call for expressions of interest, the Municipal Council, by its decision of 27/02/2025, approved the participation of sixty-two (62) residents in ten Advisory Committees of the Municipality of Ierokipia.

The decision aims to attract and engage as many citizens as possible, from all municipal districts, in the management of municipal affairs.

The participation of residents in Municipal Committees involves providing advice and expertise on various matters that concern the Municipality.
