Announcement Regarding Abandoned Vehicles.

Notification under Article 120 of the Municipal Law

 

The owners of the vehicles / objects listed below, which have remained abandoned on the streets indicated for a period longer than one week, are hereby requested to remove them within three days of the date of this publication. Should they not be removed within three days, the Municipal Council has the authority to dispose of them in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation.

The owners of the vehicles below, which have been abandoned for a period greater than one week, are hereby requested to remove them within three days. If they are not removed within three days, the Municipality has the power to dispose of them according to the provisions of the legislation.

Tender no. 33/2025 for the clearing of land plots of wild vegetation.


The Municipality of Geroskipou invites tenders for the clearing (using specialised machinery) of wild vegetation on land plots within its administrative boundaries.

Tenders must be submitted in a sealed envelope, bearing on the outside the phrase “Tender no. 33/2025 for the clearing of land plots of wild vegetation”, and placed in the Municipality’s tender box no later than 1:00 p.m. on Friday 04 April 2025.

In addition to the price they set for each plot, tenderers must carry out the clearing of one plot to the satisfaction of the competent officers of the Municipality of Geroskipou, demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of their machinery.
The price set in the tender shall also include the clearing of the banks around the plots, as well as the shredding of any small quantity of prunings that may be found within the plots.

Clearing of plots and uninhabited premises in the Municipality of Geroskipou.

As part of its efforts to safeguard public health and maintain the good appearance of its administrative area, the Municipality of Geroskipou calls on the owners of open private spaces/plots and uninhabited premises located within its municipal boundaries to see to their cleaning by 21 April 2025.

Specifically, open private spaces/plots must be cleared and freed not only of wild vegetation and rubbish, but also of other waste materials and objects.

In addition, we inform owners that all waste resulting from the clearing must be transported to appropriate waste management facilities or to the Koloni “Green Point” (opening hours daily 8.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. and Saturday 8.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.), where various types of household waste are received free of charge.

It is emphasised that, otherwise, in order to address cases of nuisance or unsightliness and to restore the amenities of residents, the Municipality will proceed with the clearing and removal of wild vegetation, rubbish, waste materials and objects, charging the owners of the plots/premises cleared by the Municipality’s special crews the corresponding amount.

For each plot, the minimum charge corresponds to the sum of €90.00. The charges for uninhabited premises are calculated according to the labour hours and the volume of refuse involved.

It is noted that responsibility for the cleaning rests exclusively with the owner of the plot, even if waste materials have been placed/dumped by third parties.

The Municipality of Geroskipou seeks the cooperation of the public, as enhancing the image of our town and improving the standard of living is a matter and a responsibility for us all.

Participation of the Municipality of Geroskipou in the “Earth Hour” Campaign



On Saturday 22 March 2025, at 8:30 p.m., hundreds of millions of people in more than 150 countries around the world will unite to celebrate the planet by switching off their lights for one hour, “Earth Hour”.

The Municipality of Geroskipou, in support of the global effort to protect our planet, calls on all residents, as well as all our fellow citizens, to support this effort by switching off the lights in their homes and business premises for one hour, tonight, between 20:30 – 21:30.

New land purchase agreement by the Municipality of Geroskipou for the creation of parking spaces

The Municipality of Geroskipou announces that it has reached an agreement with the owner of plots No. 764 and 246 in Geroskipou for the purchase of this real estate.
The plots, with a total area of 360 sq.m., are located on Michali Karaoli Street, and their acquisition aims at the completion of the project to regenerate the traditional core of Geroskipou and, specifically, at extending the parking area on Giannaki Talioti Street (opposite the Municipal Art Gallery).

Festal Doxology for the 25th of March 1821 in Geroskipou.

On the occasion of the national anniversary of the 25th of March 1821, a doxology will be held on 25 March at 9.00 a.m. at the Holy Church of Agia Paraskevi in Geroskipou, presided over by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Odysseas Aspromallis.
The commemorative address of the day will be delivered by the Assistant Head Teacher at the Giannakis Taliotis Lyceum, philologist Giorgos Giallouris.
The doxology will be attended by the Mayor of Geroskipou Nikos Palios, the Municipal Council, representatives of the School Board, teachers and delegations of pupils from the secondary and primary schools of the Municipality.

Recruitment of Hourly-Paid Manual Staff at the PDLGO

The Paphos District Local Government Organisation is accepting applications for the Recruitment of Hourly-Paid Manual Staff as follows:

Update on the 3rd Section of the Redevelopment of the Traditional Core of Geroskipou.



Based on the update provided by the contractor of the project to redevelop the traditional core of Geroskipou (MILTIADES NEOPHYTOU C.E.C. & D.), the Municipality of Geroskipou informs the public that construction works have begun on the 3rd section of the project, which covers Thermopylon, Marathonos, Kouriou, Spartis and Michalaki Karaoli streets.

The project involves the demolition of existing roads and pavements, earthworks, the installation of new public utility networks (EAC and CYTA), street lighting and the paving of roads.

Thermopylon, Marathonos, Kouriou, Spartis and Michalaki Karaoli streets will remain closed to traffic for the next three (3) months, until 15 June 2025. In addition, traffic on Arsinois, Dionysou, Athinon, Kerkyras and Leontiou streets, and to the west of Giannaki Talioti street, will be closed on a rotating and partial basis in order to complete the paving works.

The above phase of works also includes the redevelopment of the car park on Archiepiskopou Kyprianou street, to the south of the Geroskipou Adult Education Centre, which will remain closed to the public.

Throughout the duration of the works, safe access will be ensured for pedestrians, affected residents and visitors to their homes and other businesses.
Depending on the progress of the works, and always in good time, a further detailed update will be provided with all the necessary information for the remaining phases of the project.
