Operation of the New Offices of the Konia Municipal District

The Municipality of Geroskipou informs the public and in particular the residents of Konia that, from next Monday, 15 December 2025, the Offices of the Konia Municipal District will operate in the renovated building of the former Konia Cooperative Credit Society, at 51 Griva Digeni street.

The building on Agiou Iakovou street, which until now housed the offices of the Konia Municipal District, will be converted into a Childcare Centre – this project began on 1 December 2025.

Free Hearing Assessment at the Municipality of Geroskipou!

The Municipality of Geroskipou, in collaboration with the Efthimiades Audiology Centres, invites residents to an event dedicated to the prevention and protection of hearing.

👉 Date: Sunday, 8 December
👉 Time: 09:30 – 12:00
👉 Venue: Offices of the Timi Municipal District

During the day, a free hearing assessment will be carried out and useful information will be provided on hearing health and protection.

ℹ️ The event is open to all residents and no prior registration is required.

Contractor Announcement Regarding “Drainage and Improvement Works at the Pyrinas, the Square and the Kato Vrysi in the Municipality of Ierokipia”.

Announcement

We would like to inform you that work has begun on the project “Drainage and Improvement Works at the Pyrinas, the Square and the Kato Vrysi in the Municipality of Ierokipia”.
During the first phase of the works, Agias Paraskevis Street will remain closed.
More specifically, from 01.12.2025 the whole of Agias Paraskevis Street will be closed, from the level of the KEN entrance up to its junction with Adonidos Street. Access to Agias Sofias Street will be via Archbishop Makarios III Avenue.
We understand the unavoidable difficulties that these works will cause and we ask the public for their understanding. We kindly ask everyone to observe the temporary road signage and to follow the instructions given to them.
We would like to stress that these works are necessary to improve road safety and our infrastructure. The inconvenience is temporary, but the benefits will be long-term.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this project.

“IEROKIPEION FREE UNIVERSITY IN PAPHOS” 2nd Lecture of the 22nd Cycle – “Ancient Cypriot Philosophers”

As part of the “Ierokipeion Free University in Paphos” public lecture programme, jointly organised by the Municipality of Hierocepia, the University of Cyprus and Radio Paphos, the second lecture of the 22nd cycle will take place on Friday, 28 November 2025 at 7:00 p.m., in the Events Hall of the Geroskipou Multipurpose Centre.

The speaker of the lecture entitled “Ancient Cypriot Philosophers” will be Mr Angelos Sofokleous, Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The lectures of the “Ierokipeion Free University” are open to the public and are broadcast live on Radio Paphos Pancyprian 93.7 and recorded by the University of Cyprus radio station UCYvoice 95.2. At the end of the presentations, the audience, as well as the listeners of Radio Paphos Pancyprian, can take an active part in the discussion that follows.

State grant awarded to the Municipality of Geroskipou for the creation of a Childcare Centre in Konia

On 25 November 2025, an agreement was signed between the Social Welfare Services and the Municipality of Geroskipou for the award of a state grant of €500,000 for the creation of a Childcare Centre in Konia.

The project is being carried out through the State Grants Scheme of the Social Welfare Services for the creation of new, or the expansion of existing, social care facilities, within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021 – 2026.

The project begins on 1 December 2025 and will be completed within twenty-two weeks.

INFORMATION NOTE ON THE PROJECT «REGENERATION AND EMBELLISHMENT OF THE TRADITIONAL CORE OF GEROSKIPOU»

On behalf of the company MILTIADES NEOPHYTOU C.E.C. & D. (Project Contractor), as part of the execution of the project
«REGENERATION AND EMBELLISHMENT OF THE TRADITIONAL CORE OF GEROSKIPOU»,
we wish to inform the public that from 19/11/2025 construction works will begin on Section D2 of the project, which includes Archiepiskopou Kyprianou and Nikis streets, in parallel with the completion of works on Kanari street.
The project involves the demolition of existing roads and pavements, earthworks, the construction of a new stormwater drainage network, the installation of new public utility networks (EAC and CYTA), road lighting and road paving.


The streets affected by the execution of the works on Section D are listed below:
1. Sections of Archiepiskopou Kyprianou street
2. Kanari street
3. Nikis street
On Archiepiskopou Kyprianou, Kanari and Nikis streets, over the next 2 months and until the end of January 2026, works will be carried out and these streets will remain closed to traffic.


On Archiepiskopou Kyprianou street (Section D1 of the project), vehicle traffic will be able to flow after 01/12/2025 in the direction of Spartis street. Also, on the above section of the street, traffic will be cut off on a rotating and partial basis for the completion of the paving works.
The parking spaces on Archiepiskopou Kyprianou street and Spartis street will be available for the residents and visitors of the area.
Safe pedestrian access will be ensured for the affected residents and visitors to homes and other businesses throughout the duration of the works.
As the works progress, and always in good time, further detailed information will be provided with all the necessary details on the completion of the project.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused during the course of the project.
Remember, however, that the inconvenience will be forgotten, but the project will remain.

Agreement for the creation of a Childcare Centre in Konia by the Municipality of Geroskipou

On 17 November 2025, an agreement was signed between the Mayor of Geroskipou, Nikos Palios, and the Director of Multibuild Ltd, Panikos Charalambous, for the change of use of the building of the former Konia Community Council into a Childcare Centre for children aged 0 to 4 years.

 

The contract, with a total value of €507,505 plus VAT, is being implemented through the State Grants Scheme of the Social Welfare Services for the creation of new, or the expansion of existing, social care facilities, within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026 with co-financing from the EU.

 

The project is scheduled to begin on 1 December 2025 and will be completed within twenty-two weeks.
