On the day of the 50th black anniversary of the Coup d’état, an event co-organised by the Municipality of Eastern Paphos and the Pancyprian Association of Resistance Fighters was held at the 1974 Monument of Democracy and Resistance in Geroskipou.

The event began with a memorial service (trisagion) conducted by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Odysseas Aspromallis in memory of the heroic fallen during the treacherous coup.

Addresses were delivered by Nikos Palios, Mayor of Eastern Paphos, the President of the Pancyprian Association of Resistance Fighters Leontios Filippou, and the Deputy Mayor of Geroskipou Andreas Siikkis.

A wreath-laying ceremony followed.
