Launch of coronavirus diagnostic testing in Paphos

Regarding the launch of coronavirus diagnostic testing in Paphos, the Municipality of Geroskipou informs its residents that:

1) From Thursday 2/4 it began carrying out approximately 100 diagnostic tests, in cooperation with a specialised licensed private company.

2) The testing will cover employees in public spaces and premises, that is, people who these days are on the “front line of duty”.

3) The Municipality is in contact with the Minister of Health and his epidemiological team, and at the beginning of next week it will be assessed in a scientific manner whether there is a need to carry out additional testing within the boundaries of the Municipality of Geroskipou.
4) The Municipality of Geroskipou will keep its residents informed of all developments on the matter, and you can rest assured that it will take all necessary measures in accordance with the guidance of the experts.

Announcement

In an effort to detect the extent of the coronavirus problem within the municipal boundaries of Geroskipou, the Municipality began yesterday (2/4), in cooperation with an authorised private company, carrying out diagnostic tests.
Specifically, approximately 100 diagnostic tests will be carried out, which will cover workers in public spaces and premises that are in operation.

The Municipality of Geroskipou is in contact with the Ministry of Health so that additional diagnostic tests can be carried out with state funding.

The “Neighbourhood Watch” volunteers help enforce the restrictive measures

As part of the collective effort to tackle the pandemic, the Municipality of Geroskipou has activated the “Neighbourhood Watch” to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Thus, a team of “Neighbourhood Watch” volunteers, with the appropriate protective measures in place, carried out checks yesterday (26/3) to ensure compliance with the movement restriction measures. The checks will continue over the coming days.

The Municipality of Geroskipou congratulates and thanks the “Neighbourhood Watch” volunteers, who are always ready to assist in the activities of the municipal authority and support our community in various ways.

The Municipality of Geroskipou calls on residents to exercise self-restraint, to comply with the decisions announced from time to time by the government, and to take the necessary precautionary measures to protect themselves and their families, based on the advice of the experts.

Instructions for Sending an SMS

An SMS message can be sent from your mobile phone to the number 8998 free of charge.

The SMS must be in the following format:

X space ID no. or passport no. space home postal code

For example, to travel to a store to purchase or obtain goods:

That is:
2 ID No. Postal Code – Geroskipou

To travel to a pharmacy:
1 987654 8201

To travel to a bank:
3 987654 8201

Where X is the purpose of movement, using the number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) corresponding to each citizen’s reason for movement as described below:

1 Travel to a pharmacy, for blood donation, or to visit a doctor
2 Travel to a store to purchase or obtain essential goods/services
3 Travel to a bank, insofar as the transaction cannot be carried out electronically
4 Absolutely necessary visits to government services or to services of the broader public sector and local government
5 Travel to provide assistance to persons who are unable to look after themselves, who must protect themselves, who are in self-isolation, and/or who are in places of mandatory confinement (quarantine)
6 Travel for physical exercise or for the needs of a pet, provided that no more than two persons are involved and that it is limited to areas neighbouring their residence
7 Attendance at a ceremony (e.g. funeral, wedding, christening) by first- and second-degree relatives not exceeding 10 persons
8 Declaration of any other purpose of movement that can be justified on the basis of the movement restriction measures.

Once citizens have sent the message, they will be entitled to travel for a reasonable period of time depending on the purpose of the movement.

After sending the SMS message, a reply will be received in the following format:

If a citizen has made an error in the structure of the message, they will receive the reply:

Citizens are required to carry their ID or passport with them and to present the messages on their mobile phone in the event of a check by the Police.

The Police will additionally check for any misuse of the SMS messaging mechanism to the number 8998.

Citizen Declaration
If citizens do not have access to the announced movement certification forms, they may carry with them a handwritten certificate containing the following details: full name, date of birth, ID or passport number, home address, the citizen’s time of movement, and the specific purpose of the movement (which must fall within the categories exempt from the ban on unnecessary movement as defined in the relevant Decree). Announcement

Following the new measures announced by the Government yesterday (23/3), the Municipality of Geroskipou wishes to inform the public that:

1) From 6 p.m. on 24 March 2020 until 13 April, the following spaces will be closed within the municipal boundaries of Geroskipou:

a) Parks, Playgrounds and Open-Air Sports Grounds.

b) Public gathering places, including squares, picnic areas, and beaches.

2. All retail businesses within the municipal boundaries must suspend their operations, with the exception of those businesses included in therelevant Decree issued by the Minister of Health.

4. Street vending is discontinued within the municipal boundaries

5. Work at construction sites is discontinued, except for projects of public benefit, subject to the relevant authorisation of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works.

6. The attendance of citizens at places of religious worship, such as churches and other places of prayer, is prohibited.

We urge our fellow residents to exercise self-restraint, to comply with the decisions announced from time to time by the government and to take the necessary preventive measures for the protection of themselves and their families.

Mindful of the exceptional times we are living through, the Municipality of Geroskipou and the associates of the Geroskipou Municipal Prevention Team continue to stand by our residents.

With full respect for the personality and the rights of every person, we provide counselling and support on matters of psychologicalemotional strain caused by the enforced stay at home (confinement or quarantine) owing to the situation caused by the pandemic from Covid-19.

TENDER NO. 6/2020 – DEVELOPMENT AND COMPLETION OF GREENERY AT GEROSKIPOU BEACH – PHASE B

 

A. Supply and planting of trees: tamarisks and fruitless mulberries.

B. Materials and installation of tertiary irrigation systems for them.

C. Their maintenance for 1 year.

  1. The Municipality of Geroskipou invites tenders for:

A. the supply and planting of ninety (90) trees (tamarisks and fruitless mulberries) at front-line locations on the Municipality’s beach and at points to be indicated precisely on site.

B. the supply of materials and installation of tertiary irrigation systems for the above.

C. Maintenance of the trees for 1 year

  1. Tenders must be submitted in a sealed envelope, addressed to the Mayor of Geroskipou, and placed in the Municipality’s Tender Box (entrance of the Municipal Hall, Geroskipou Square, 8210 Paphos) no later than Friday 20 March 2020 at 11.00. The envelope must bear the phrase “TENDER 6/2020 FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND COMPLETION OF GREENERY AT GEROSKIPOU BEACH – PHASE B”.
  1. The duration of the execution of the main part of the contract will be Four (4) weeks from the date of commencement of the implementation of the Subject of the Contract.

TENDER No. 7/2020 – CLEANING OF THE MUNICIPAL BEACH WITH A STONE COLLECTOR

 

  1. The Municipality of Geroskipou invites tenders for the hire of a stone collector together with its operator for 80 hours ( ± 20%) to clean the Geroskipou municipal beach of scattered pebbles ranging from 1 cm to 20 cm in diameter.
  2. The estimated budget for the Contract amounts to eight thousand euros (8,000 Euro), excluding VAT.
  1. The machine may be either self-propelled or towed and must be of high horsepower (140 HP to 200 HP).
  2. The duration for carrying out the object of the Contract is set at a period of 45 days from the date of signing the contract and is to be carried out in three phases.
  1.
