The Municipality of Geroskipou informs the public that, in collaboration with ALEXANDER College and CDA College, it is accepting applications for the award of scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year.

Scholarships are awarded only for the first year of study. Interested parties may contact the above academic institutions directly for further information regarding the fields of study offered and other matters.

Those interested in applying for the scholarships offered should submit their interest in writing to the Records Office of the Municipality of Geroskipou by Monday, 27 July 2020 at 1.00 p.m.

The Municipality of Geroskipou is accepting applications for the recruitment of one (1) Cleaner on the E2 scale.

Applications must be submitted on a special form, which interested parties may collect from the Municipality’s Registry during working hours and days, and must be submitted by Friday 07 August 2020 at 1:30 p.m., presenting without fail a Health Certificate from a Public or Private Hospital, a copy of an identity card, a copy of an education leaving certificate, and a clean criminal record certificate.

The working hours are on a six-day basis, Monday to Saturday, 38 hours per week.

Those who have previously submitted an application for employment at the Municipality of Geroskipou are requested to come to the Municipality’s offices again to complete the new form, as all previous applications will NOT be taken into account.

Applications must be submitted on a special form, which interested parties may obtain from the Municipal Archive (during working hours and days) and must be returned by Friday 07 August 2020 at 1:30 p.m..

The following documents must be submitted together with the application: a Health Certificate from a public or private hospital, a copy of the identity card, a copy of the school leaving certificate, and a Clean Criminal Record Certificate.

Those who have submitted an application for employment with the Municipality of Geroskipou in the past are requested to visit the Municipality’s offices again in order to complete the new form, as all previous applications will NOT be taken into account.

With the aim of improving the facades of the Turkish Cypriot properties in Geroskipou, the Municipality has carried out improvement works.

The Municipality of Geroskipou and the Paphos Police Directorate, at a modest ceremony held today, 3 July 2020, at the Municipal Hall, honoured the “Neighbourhood Watch” members for their participation in efforts to implement the measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The Mayor of Geroskipou, Michalis Pavlides, held a meeting yesterday with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Savvas Perdios.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Tourism was given a tour by the Mayor of the renovated Geroskipou seafront, and matters of common interest were discussed.

Next Monday, 6 July 2020, the Geroskipou Adult Education Centre resumes normal operation.

The 2nd Primary School of Geroskipou, with the financial support of the Municipality of Geroskipou and the Parents’ Association, has published “The Amulet of Aphrodite”.

These are stories written by the children of the 2nd Primary School of Geroskipou, in collaboration with the acclaimed author and creative-writing specialist Iasonas Stavrakis. The stories deal with the history, myths, sights and people of Geroskipou, told through the distinctive eyes of children and the free imagination of that age.

A number of scholarships to be awarded to first-year students from Geroskipou was granted to the Municipality of Geroskipou by the British university Canterbury Christ Church University. The scholarships were handed over to Mayor Michalis Pavlides by the Campus Manager of Alexander College in Paphos, Giorgos Palas, during a meeting held on 30 June at the Geroskipou Municipal Hall. For the second consecutive year, Canterbury Christ Church University is successfully cooperating with Alexander College, through which it offers internationally recognised degrees.
