Taking into account all the negative effects of plastic on our daily lives, the Municipality of Geroskipou, in cooperation with the environmental organisation “Akti” and with the participation of the schools located within the municipal boundaries of Geroskipou, launched in 2020 a programme at the Blue Flag-awarded Municipal Beach, with the aim of reducing, reusing and recycling PMD.

The programme includes raising awareness of the negative effects on the environment, through briefings in schools, beach clean-ups, and the collection, separation, weighing and transport of materials to the Koloni Green Point. The aluminium cans are collected by the Cans For Kids organisation, which uses them to raise money to purchase equipment for the Paediatric Hospital.
