Tender Notice No. 20/2024 concerning
the Clearing of Land Plots of Wild Vegetation.
The Municipality of Geroskipou and the Community of Konia invite tenders for the clearing of wild vegetation from land plots within their administrative boundaries using specialised machinery.
Tenders must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked on the outside with the wording «Tender No. 20/2024 for the clearing of land plots of wild vegetation» and placed in the Municipality’s tender box no later than 1:00 p.m. on Monday, 08 April 2024.
In addition to the price they set for each plot, tenderers will be required to clear one plot to the satisfaction of the competent Officers of the Municipality of Geroskipou, so as to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of their machinery.
The price specified in the tender shall also include the clearing of the embankments surrounding the plots, as well as the shredding of any small quantity of prunings that may be found within the plots.
Each Local Authority bears sole responsibility for fulfilling its obligations in respect of the works carried out on its behalf.

ANNOUNCEMENT
CLEAR YOUR PLOTS IN GEROSKIPOU
The Municipality of Geroskipou calls on all owners of plots or other parcels of land located within the municipal area of Geroskipou to clear them and remove weeds and/or waste materials by 1 May 2024. Responsibility for clearing the land parcels lies solely with the owners, even if the waste materials on them have been placed or dumped by third parties.
Owners who intend to clear their plots themselves must notify the Municipality of Geroskipou in writing by 19 April 2024, recording all the details of the plot, and are required to complete the clearing by 1 May 2024. Letters should be sent to the Municipality of Geroskipou, at the address Geroskipou Square, P.O. Box 63015, 8201 Geroskipou, or by email to info@geroskipou.org.cy
After the above date has passed, the Municipality of Geroskipou, as it does every year, will clear all plots, fields or other land parcels that have not been cleared and will charge their owners. The charge will be made according to the weight and category of the materials removed, but in no case will it be less than eighty euros (€80) per plot.
This notice is also considered a personal notice to all owners of land parcels.

Neighbourhood Social Worker in the Municipality of Eastern Paphos

On 28 March, the Memoranda of Cooperation were signed between the Social Welfare Services
and the Municipality of Geroskipou and the Communities of Agia Marinouda, Konia, Acheleia and Timi
for the implementation of the Neighbourhood Social Worker Programme.
The aim of the Memorandum is the identification and more immediate handling of the social problems of the Municipality of Eastern Paphos.

Signing of an agreement between the Social Welfare Services and the Municipality of Geroskipou for the expansion and upgrade of the nursery at the Geroskipou Multipurpose Centre

On 20/3/24, the first Public Funding agreement, worth 343,178 euros, was signed between the Social Welfare Services of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare and the Municipality of Geroskipou/Geroskipou Family and Child Centre for the expansion and upgrade of the nursery at the Geroskipou Multipurpose Centre, within the framework of the Social Welfare Services’ new State Grants Scheme and the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
In Geroskipou there is a need to create more places at the Multipurpose Centre nursery, which will also operate during the afternoon hours, giving parents the opportunity to enter or remain in the labour market as part of reconciling working and family life. The aim of both the Municipality and the Geroskipou Family and Child Centre is the continuous upgrading of the services offered and the service of residents.

Clean Monday at Geroskipou Municipal Beach.

To make things easier for members of the public who choose Geroskipou Municipal Beach

to “usher in the start of Lent” on “Clean Monday” (18/03/2024),
the Municipality of Geroskipou will provide tables and chairs for visitors along the beachfront.
Free loukoumades will also be offered.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Strengthening of Security Measures at the Cemetery of the Municipality of Geroskipou


Taking the problem of thefts at the Municipal Cemetery seriously, the Municipality of Geroskipou has adopted further measures to protect the security of the site.
Specifically, it has done the following:
Reinforcement of the Fencing: The reinforcement of the cemetery’s fencing has been completed, with the aim of restricting unlawful activity on the site.
Enhancement of Lighting: Lighting has been enhanced at points of particular importance, mainly at the cemetery entrances, in order to deter unwanted intrusions during the night hours.
Implementation of Operating Hours: Operating hours have been imposed, daily from 06:30 a.m. to 20:00.
At the same time, a request has been made for more frequent police patrols to respond immediately to any potential security breach.
Regarding the installation of a surveillance system, we inform the public that the Municipality had submitted two applications in the past to secure a licence for the installation of a closed-circuit surveillance system, which did not receive a positive response. Nevertheless, efforts on this matter are continuing, and we expect to receive the required approval soon.

Road resurfacing in the Municipality of Geroskipou – progress of works.

Since 22 January of this year, the Municipality of Geroskipou has begun full resurfacing works on 24 roads within its municipal boundaries. The works are proceeding smoothly and will soon be completed.
The works are being carried out by the company CHARALAMBIDES PETROS AND BROTHERS LTD.
The contractor company informs the affected public of the dates on which works will be carried out on each road. The material removed is used to improve the rural roads of our Municipality.

Announcement – Services Closed on 29/02/2024.

We inform our residents that tomorrow, Thursday 29/02/2024,
the Library, the Civil Weddings Department and the Accounts Office cash desk of the Municipality of Geroskipou will remain closed due to written examinations that staff will be sitting.

ANNOUNCEMENT: RECRUITMENT OF ONE (1) REFUSE COLLECTION WORKER

The Municipality of Geroskipou is accepting applications for the recruitment of one (1) Refuse Collection Worker on scale E6-E7.

Applications must be submitted on a special form, which interested parties can obtain from the Municipal Records Office during working days and hours or from the Municipality’s official website.

The following documents must be submitted together with the application:
1. A copy of the School Leaving Certificate.
2. A copy of the Birth Certificate or identity card.
3. A copy of a Clean Criminal Record Certificate.
4. A copy of the Military Discharge Certificate.
5. A copy of a Health Certificate from a public or private hospital.

Applications must be submitted to the Municipal Records Office, signed by the applicants, by Friday 1 March 2024 at 14:00, in sealed envelopes marked with the phrase “Application for recruitment of a refuse collection worker”.

Those who have previously submitted an application for employment with the Municipality of Geroskipou are requested to come to the Municipality’s offices again to complete the new form, as all previous applications will NOT be taken into account.
