The Municipality of Geroskipou, as a full member of the European “Healthy Cities” Network, took part from 21/11/2023 to 23/11/2023 in Utrecht in the Annual Working Conference of the European Healthy Cities Network.
The delegation that travelled to Utrecht comprised Municipal Councillor Mr Andreas Christofides, coordinator Mr Panikos Trakkidis, Municipal Secretary Mr Kostas Anastasiades and Health Officer Mr Marios Nikitas.
The main theme of the meeting was Health and Well-being for All, celebrating 35 years of the Healthy Cities movement.
More than 400 representatives of the cities and National Networks that make up the European Healthy Cities Network took part in Utrecht.
The topics discussed included:
– One Health, one future, advancing towards Planetary Well-being.
– Leaving no one behind: Promoting health in a digital age.
– The power of cities: Delivering an inclusive agenda for mental health.
– Creating sustainable places for all generations.
– Learning from experience: Promoting resilient cities in the face of emergencies.
As part of the meeting, and following a vote, the coordinator of the Municipality of Geroskipou, Mr Panikos Trakkidis, was elected to the five-member “Advisory Committee” of the European Network. The election of Mr Trakkidis is a tremendous achievement both for the Municipality of Geroskipou and for Cyprus, as it is the first time that our small country has been represented on this committee.
Finally, the Municipality of Geroskipou took part in the discussion on defining the Political Declaration of the Healthy Cities Network for 2023.
