The Municipality of Geroskipou, as part of upgrading its social
interventions in the community and strengthening its social
support services for residents, is taking part in the
“Neighbourhood Social Worker” programme.
The “neighbourhood social worker” will serve as the point of reference for
the municipality’s residents in the provision of social services, which will
be offered free of charge.

Aim of the programme:

● To facilitate residents’ access to social
services
● To provide social support services promptly and flexibly
● To empower and protect vulnerable members of the community
● To identify and promptly address social needs and
problems

The Role of the Social Worker:

● Individual and family counselling support
● First point of contact for psychosocial support
● Handling of social problems
● Raising awareness and mobilising citizens on local social issues
● Information, guidance and referral to the relevant
services
● Home visits and on-site interventions.

The “Neighbourhood Social Worker” Programme is part of the “Restructuring of Social Welfare Services” Project, which
is implemented within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Programme “THALIA 2021 – 2027”, co-financed by the E.U.
