Meeting of the Mayor of Geroskipou with the Deputy Minister of Tourism.

In order to support the Municipality of Geroskipou’s request for the sub-lease of state plots no. 47 and 180, with a view to redesigning and developing Geroskipou Beach, Mayor Nikos Palios met on 22 May with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr Costas Koumis.

The Deputy Minister informed the Mayor that the proposal of the municipal authority is under evaluation and that a final decision will be taken in the coming period.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the grant agreements to be received by the Municipality of Geroskipou through its participation in the “Grant Scheme for the Revival of Rural, Mountain, Border and Remote Areas through the Creation of Authentic Experiences” were signed. The scheme was launched by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism with EU funding.

The total amount of the grant comes to €325,000 (€65,000 for each municipal district – Konia, Timi, Agia Marinouda, Acheleia – and the Koloni parish).

 

SUMMER CULTURAL EVENTS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF GEROSKIPOU AND “IEROKIPIA 2025”

The Municipality of Geroskipou announces that it is accepting proposals from registered companies, cultural bodies, event organisers, artistic groups, artists and non-profit organisations for the preparation of summer events in the municipal districts of Koni, Timi, Agia Marinouda and Acheleia, as well as the programme of the “Ierokipia” cultural events, which will take place this coming September.

Interested parties may send their proposals,

no later than 23 June 2025.

It is recommended that proposals be accompanied by a detailed description and CVs and/or DVDs, CDs, links to online material, publications, etc.

Each proposal must include a detailed statement of its cost, and the VAT must be specified.

Excellent Results from the Laboratory Analyses of the Sea Water at the Geroskipou Municipal Beach

The Municipality of Geroskipou wishes to inform the public that it has carried out laboratory analyses of the sea water at the Geroskipou Municipal Beach.

 

The sea water samples analysed are classified as waters of “excellent quality”.

 

The Municipality will carry out similar analyses at regular intervals in order to monitor the quality of the sea water in the area under examination.

 

 

Notification on the Conduct of Written Examinations.


The Municipality of Geroskipou announces that the written examinations for filling the vacant permanent positions of Accounts Officer (1), Municipal Service Officer (1), Gardens and Greenery Officer (1), Health Officer (1), Assistant Secretarial Officer (4), Assistant IT Officer (1), Technical Engineer (Civil Engineering) (1) and Traffic Warden (3) will be held on Saturday 21/06/2025 and Sunday 22/06/2025 at the Aliathon hotel, 3 Poseidonos Avenue, Geroskipou, Paphos.

The Local Beaches Committee of the Municipality of Geroskipou has submitted to the Central Beaches Committee a Use Plan for “Kathari” Beach in Timi, as provided for under the Protection of the Beach Law (Cap. 59).
The Plan sets out how the various services and facilities will be laid out on this beach. The final plan will be approved by the Central Beaches Committee.
At the same time, the Municipality has submitted a request to the Department of Lands and Surveys for the opening of the public road leading to the beach.
Finally, the Municipality has submitted a request to the Turkish-Cypriot Properties Management Service for the lease of part of a Turkish-Cypriot plot of 2,650 sq.m., with a view to creating a snack-bar type refreshment kiosk and an organised parking area.
Today, 20/5, Mayor Nikos Palios, Deputy Mayor of Timi Giorgos Polykarpou and a team of municipal officers visited “Kathari” in order to plan certain works to improve the beach and its infrastructure, pending approval of the Use Plan by the Central Beaches Committee.

The Municipality of Geroskipou is accepting tenders for the granting of a licence to provide services (sunbeds and umbrellas) at a designated point on the beach located within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Geroskipou for a period of five (5) years.

Part A: Terms of Reference – Technical Specifications

1. The Municipality of Geroskipou invites tenders for the provision of services for the creation and management of its social media channels.

Specifically, the object of the Contract comprises the following:

(a) The creation, design and configuration of accounts/pages on the following social media platforms:

• Facebook
• Instagram
• Viber

It is understood that:
i. The configuration of the pages shall be subject to the approval of the Municipality.
ii. The Contractor shall be obliged to redesign the pages in consultation with the Municipality, whenever the Municipality deems this necessary.

(b) The management of the above pages includes:

• Actions to promote the pages with the aim of increasing traffic.

• Posting of material (text and/or photographs and/or videos).

• Actions to promote the posts with the aim of maximising their reach among the public.
It is understood that:
i. The above actions shall be carried out subject to the approval of the Municipality.
ii. The timetable for implementing the above shall be determined by the Municipality.
iii. Promotional actions requiring additional expenditure (e.g. sponsored posts on Facebook) shall be carried out subject to the approval of the Municipality.
iv. Actions requiring expenditure shall be borne by the Municipality.
v. The Contractor shall prepare, on a monthly basis or on an ad-hoc basis if requested, a report of results and statistical figures on the reach and general public response of the above channels, which shall be submitted at the end of each month. In addition, an annual detailed evaluation report shall be submitted.

(c) The creation of posts for the above pages. The posts must be of high quality and aesthetically sound. The posts shall include text and/or photographs and/or videos. The Contractor shall, at its own responsibility and cost, edit texts, photographic material and videos with the aim of achieving the best possible quality and aesthetic result. The texts shall be in the Greek language, while in some cases they shall also be in the English language.

It is understood that the posts, before being published, shall be subject to the approval of the Municipality.

It is understood that the Contractor shall ensure that the posting of photographs or videos does not infringe intellectual property rights and that privacy is respected.

It is understood that, in the event of posting material that is not the Contractor’s own work, the Contractor shall obtain the relevant permission from the creator.

It is understood that under no circumstances shall any private business be promoted or advertised, directly or indirectly, through the social media channels.
3.2 Place of Performance of the Object of the Contract
1. The place of performance of the object of the Contract is the offices of the Contractor and the offices of the Municipality, where required for the purposes of implementing the object of the contract.

3.3 Commencement and Duration of Performance

1. The duration of performance of the object of the Contract is set at a period of one year from the date of signing of the Contract.

2. Upon expiry of the period of performance of the object of the Contract referred to in paragraph 1 above, the Contracting Authority has the right to extend the validity of the Contract for a further year.

Part B: Instructions to Economic Operators

1. The tender must be submitted using the Tender Form attached as Annex 1. The prices offered shall be exclusive of VAT.

2. When submitting their tender, tenderers shall provide evidence (links) of their work to serve as a basis for the relevant evaluation regarding the selection of the Contractor, as well as evidence that they possess the experience to manage social media channels and the Municipality’s website.

3. The tender must be placed in a sealed envelope, on the outside of which shall be written the name of the tenderer and the notation “Tender for the provision of services for the creation and management of the social media channels of the Municipality of Geroskipou – Tender No. 45/2025”.

4. The tender envelope must be placed, at the tenderer’s responsibility, in the Municipality’s Tender Box no later than Friday 23/05/2025 at 12:30 p.m.

5. Alternative tenders shall not be accepted

6. The award criterion shall be the lowest price, in accordance with the terms of the Tender.

ANNEX 1 – TENDER FORM

NOTICE FOR THE ISSUE OF A DOG OWNERSHIP LICENCE – NOTICE FOR DOG OWNERS

Please issue an ownership licence for your dog(s) within 14 days from today. A dog ownership licence is issued upon payment of the “Dog Licence Fee” of €20.50 per dog, once the following documents have been submitted to the Cash Office of the Municipality of Geroskipou:
1. The dog’s health certificate or health booklet, issued by a registered veterinarian.
2. Certificate of the dog’s identification by microchip.
3. Certificate of registration from the Government Veterinary Services.
4. The previous dog ownership licence.
Should you fail to obtain the licence, the Municipality of Geroskipou will take legal action against you without any further notice.

OFFENCES AND PENALTIES
Under the Dogs Law, any person who –

(a) keeps a dog without an ownership licence, or a dog that is not registered and identified,
(b) keeps a dog in breach of the provisions of this Law,
(c) performs any act with intent to deceive, or which is liable to deceive, the Competent Authority or the Director in the registration or control of dogs under this Law,
(d) abandons their dog or fails to take appropriate measures to prevent it from escaping or straying,
(e) allows or tolerates that a dog they own or have in their care –
(i) causes a nuisance to the public through loud and continuous barking,
(ii) fouls or contaminates any place with faeces without collecting them,
(iii) roams freely on a public road or in any public place without being kept on a leash, or on premises belonging to another person without that person’s consent,
(f) breaches in any manner the provisions of this Law,

is guilty of an offence and, upon conviction, is liable to imprisonment or to a fine, or to both such penalties.

According to the Dog Law (L.184(I)/2002) all dog owners are obliged to obtain a dog ownership license from the Municipality. To secure this license, the dog owner, who must be at least 16 years old, must perform the following steps:

  1. Take his/her dog to a registered veterinarian who:

After examining the dog shall issue a health certificate or a booklet

After installing an electronic microchip, shall issue a marking certificate and a certificate of registration of the dog in the Register of the Government Veterinary services

  1. Present to the Financial Department of Ierokipia Municipality the above certificates
  2. Complete and submit the application for a dog ownership license
  3. Pay the dog ownership license fees:

€ 20,50 for male, female and spayed/neutered dogs

€171,00 for dangerous breeds of spayed/neutered dogs

Dangerous breeds are: Pit Bull Terrier or American Pit Bull, Japanese Tossa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazileiro.

The dog ownership license is valid for one year from the date of issue and the owner is obliged to renew it every year after presenting a health certificate / booklet issued by a registered veterinarian 5 days before the expire of the existing license and paying the appropriate fees.

Obligations of a dog owner:

  • Keep the dog in good living conditions which do not pose a risk to public health, safety and human well-being.
  • Ensure his/her health and take care of him/her according to the instructions of the

veterinarian.

  • Place a sign in front of the entrance to the house fence with the warning “BEWARE DOG”. Do not allow the dog to move freely on a public road / place.
  • Take care that the dog does not disturb the neighbours due to barking or dirt in his area.
  • When the dog takes a walk must be tied with a leash and the owner has to collect his/her feces.
  • Provide adequate shelter and protection from the weather. Provide sufficient food and water. Offer him/her suitable opportunities for exercise.
  • Take all necessary measures to prevent his/her escape. Do not cause unnecessary pain and suffering to the dog. Do not abandon him/her.
  • Protect the dog from theft, car accidents and intentional or accidental poisoning.
  • In case of death of the dog, inform Ierokipia Municipality and provide the necessary death certificate.

In case of failure to issue the license, Ierokipia Municipality will proceed to taking legal action against the owners, without any further notice.

Emergency Announcement – Water Supply Interruption / NOTICE – Water Supply Interruption

The Pafos District Local Government Organisation (P.D.L.G.O.) informs the public that today, Monday 05/05/2025, there will be a water supply interruption in the tourist area of the Municipality of Geroskipou, due to an emergency fault in a central pipeline of the water supply network.

Every possible effort is being made to repair the fault immediately and restore the water supply.
