Improvement Works to the Traditional Core and Kato Vrysi Area in Geroskipou

The project is a comprehensive urban regeneration intervention aimed at the holistic upgrade of the centre of Geroskipou. It comprises key actions relating to improvements to the road network and enhanced road safety, improvements to connectivity between areas, the development and improvement of green infrastructure, accessibility infrastructure, the undergrounding of public utility services, and the upgrade of areas of interest. Specifically:
1. Road Network Improvements

3. Connectivity Improvements
4. Green Infrastructure Development
5. Accessibility Infrastructure
6. Construction of new infrastructure in the Kato Vrysi area
7. Undergrounding of Public Utility Services
8. Stormwater Management
9. Street Lighting and Signage

The expected outcomes of the project span a range of areas, contributing to the holistic and sustainable development of the region:
– In the field of mobility, the project will create a safer and more attractive environment for pedestrians and cyclists, promoting sustainable modes of transport and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
– In economic terms, the upgrade of the urban environment and improved accessibility are expected to strengthen the area’s competitiveness by increasing footfall and attracting new investment, creating opportunities for economic growth and employment.
– In social terms, the project will improve the quality of life of residents by creating safer, more functional and more attractive public spaces that foster social cohesion and well-being.
– In addition, the project will have a positive impact on the environment, through the increase of green spaces, the improvement of stormwater management and the reduction in the use of private vehicles.

The project is implemented within the framework of the “THALIA 2021-2027” Cohesion Policy Programme, co-financed by the EU.
