Construction and operation of the “Blue Submarine Cable System (Blue SCS)” Project


Primetel PLC invites you to a Public Presentation regarding the Blue Submarine Cable System (Blue SCS) Project, on Monday 29 January 2024 at 6:00 pm at the Geroskipou Municipal Hall (Municipal Central Square).
The Blue Submarine Cable System (Blue SCS) Project concerns a subsea fibre-optic communications cable that will connect France to Israel, with connections to Italy, Greece and Cyprus. Primetel PLC is the implementing body of the project and its operator in Cyprus.
The purpose of the project is to provide state-of-the-art high-speed, high-capacity Internet services to Internet service providers, carriers, telecommunications operators, content providers, businesses and institutions. The landing point in Cyprus is at Geroskipou Municipal Beach, near the Cabana Beach Bar, where there is an existing Primetel manhole and other existing telecommunications infrastructure.
The aim of the Public Presentation is to set out general information about the project, to outline the main environmental issues arising from it, and to give the public the opportunity to submit comments and views.
As part of the project’s evaluation, a preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study has also been prepared. From 29 January 2024, the EIA will be published on the websites www.alaplanning.com, www.primetel.com.cy and www.geroskipou.org.cy, while a printed copy will be available at the Municipality of Geroskipou. A suggestion box will also be located at the same place, giving every interested party the right and the opportunity to express views, suggestions and/or complaints regarding the proposed project and the EIA.
Any person may submit comments and views regarding the content of the Study or the impacts the Project may bring about, at the place indicated above or at the following email address: info@alaplanning.com. Comments may be submitted until 7 February 2024.

Primetel PLC invites you to a Public Presentation for the Blue Submarine Cable System (Blue SCS) Project, on 29 January 2024 at 6:00 pm at Geroskipou County Hall (Geroskipou Central Square).
The Blue Submarine Cable System (Blue SCS) Project is a subsea fibre-optic communications cable which will connect France to Israel with connection to Italy, Greece and Cyprus. Primetel PLC is the project proponent and operator in Cyprus.
The purpose of this Project is to provide high-speed Internet and state-of-the-art capacity services to Internet Service Providers, Carriers, Telecom Operators, Content Providers, Enterprises, and Institutions. The landing point in Cyprus is at Geroskipou Municipal Beach, near Cabana Beach Bar, where there is an existing Primetel telecommunications manhole and other existing telecommunications infrastructure.
The intention of the Public Presentation is to provide general information about the project, to highlight the main environmental considerations arising from the project and to give the public the opportunity to provide comments and opinions.
Within the context of the project evaluation, a draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has also been prepared. From the 29 January 2024, the EIA can be found on the websites www.alaplanning.com, www.primetel.com.cy, www.geroskipou.org.cy and a hard copy of the study is available at the Municipality of Geroskipou for review. A suggestion box will also located at the same site, where any interested party will have the right and opportunity to express opinions, suggestions and/or complaints regarding the proposed project and the EIA.
Any person may submit comments and opinions regarding the contents of the Study or the impacts that the Project may cause, at the space indicated above or at the following email address: info@alaplanning.com. Comments and opinions must be submitted by the close of business day on 7 February 2024.
