Nikos Palios
ΔΗΜΑΡΧΟΣ ΙΕΡΟΚΗΠΙΑΣ
Born in Geroskipou in 1974.
He is the son of Pavlos Palios and Savvatou Mavrou from Geroskipou.
He is married to the English teacher Zelia Zoppou and has two children.
He is a graduate of the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Cyprus and holds a postgraduate degree in Modern Greek and Comparative Literature.
He worked as a Cultural Affairs and Public Relations Officer at the Municipality of Geroskipou from 1998.
He has been Chairman of the Geroskipou School Board since 2017.
He was a member of the Board of the Faculty of Letters, as well as of the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies of the University of Cyprus.
For many years he served as a member of the Board of the Cultural Heritage Centre, as well as Secretary and Press Spokesperson of the “Atromitos” Geroskipou Athletic and Cultural Association.
He served as Press Spokesperson of the Campaign Committee for the Relocation of the Marathounta Pig Farm.
He played a leading role in the establishment of the Municipality of Eastern Paphos, as a member of the Geroskipou Citizens’ Initiative Group.
He has participated without interruption in the parent associations of Geroskipou schools since 2009.
He regularly writes articles and makes public interventions on matters relating to the history and cultural heritage of Geroskipou, as well as the institution of local government.
He is the author of a study on the writer Nikos Kavvadias and the editor of the publication “Geroskipou: From Antiquity to the Present Day”.
