The Municipality of Geroskipou, the University of Cyprus and Radio Pafos are organising, for the 22nd year, the series of lectures entitled ”Ierokipeion Open University in Paphos”. The aim of the programme is to offer the public of the Municipality of Geroskipou, as well as the wider Paphos district, the opportunity to learn, through accessible lectures, about scientific topics of general interest.

The lectures are open to the public and are delivered by members of the teaching and research staff of the University of Cyprus at the Events Hall of the Geroskipou Multipurpose Centre. They are also enriched by the participation of teaching and research staff from other universities, as well as experts from scientific institutes and organisations.

All lectures begin at 7 p.m. and are broadcast live by the radio station ”Radio Pafos Pagkypria” on the frequencies 93.7fm (Paphos), 98.8fm (Nicosia, Larnaca, Famagusta, Polis Chrysochous), 95.5fm (Limassol) and online at www.radiopafos.com.

Upon completion of the lectures, certificates of attendance will be awarded at the closing ceremony

to the members of the public who take part in the institution.

The 22^nd cycle of the programme will be opened by Mr Panos Zanos, Assistant Professor of Neuropharmacology in the Department of Psychology of the University of Cyprus, with the lecture, «How drugs affect our brain: From antidepressants to medicines for dementia».
