TECHNICAL SERVICES

The Technical Services Department is responsible for the implementation of the Municipality’s overall policy in the fields of urban planning, spatial planning, and development, through the relevant laws, regulations, decrees, and decisions of the Municipal Council.

Responsibilities

• Examines the location of developments in accordance with the Town and Country Planning Law
• Reviews applications for building permits
• Is responsible for the assessment and maintenance of various development projects undertaken by the Municipality, such as parks, green areas, buildings, road networks, etc.
• Oversees new constructions carried out by municipal staff as well as the maintenance of all municipal properties
• Carries out the construction and maintenance of pavements and drainage systems
• Manages the restoration of road openings by utility services and road resurfacing works
• Oversees the construction and maintenance of vertical and horizontal road signage (signs and road markings)
• Oversees the preparation and monitoring of contracts with private contractors
• Carries out traffic studies to improve the road network
