Health Services Department

The Health Services Department of the Municipality is responsible for the protection of public health, the maintenance of cleanliness, and the improvement of the environment, as well as for the enforcement of relevant legislation within municipal boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the cleaning of roads, parks, beaches, and other public areas
  • Ensures cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental improvement
  • Carries out inspections of food, beverages, and drinking water to ensure compliance with hygiene standards
  • Inspects premises where food and drinks are prepared, baked, or sold
  • Investigates and addresses nuisances that may affect the health, safety, and quality of life of residents
  • Carries out pest control programmes for insects and rodents, including spraying and disinfection activities
  • Issues dog ownership licenses and maintains the relevant register
  • Monitors the conditions under which dogs are kept and ensures compliance with regulations
  • Ensures the proper operation and cleanliness of public toilets
  • Inspects private premises to ensure they are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition
  • Implements relevant legislation and enforcement measures, including issuing fines for littering and environmental violations
  • Collects and transports waste to the landfill site
  • Organizes cleanliness campaigns in cooperation with organized groups and residents
  • Manages the collection of stray dogs
